Purpose:

The idea behind the TriHeroes project is to adjust our historic Tri-Association Community Service award to create an opportunity for many school communities to highlight and promote their community service (CS) or service learning (SL) projects amongst our greater Tri-Association region.

The TriHeroes Showcase will recognize our regional CS or SL projects that have the participation of the school community and develop in the student body a sense of social conscientiousness. The Showcase is designed to support community service and service learning as an important element in our students’ personal development and overall educational experience.

Goals:

  • Promote high quality, inspirational and impactful CS and SL among our region as an intrinsically important aspect of our school programs.
  • Provide opportunities for students to present their projects while sharing their learning.
  • Provide opportunities for students to inspire others and network with like minded students from the region.
  • Give many schools the chance to showcase, highlight and promote their CS or SL projects with other schools via an annual, online showcase.
  • Recognize and congratulate any and all school groups who choose to present their programs.
  • Connect our CS and SL programs to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a way to promote sustainable development within our programs.

Criteria:

  • The student body takes a lead in designing and executing the project(s).
  • The project has a strong impact on the identified social or environmental cause and/or on the identified community.
  • The project strengthens the school community by creating opportunities for involvement on the part of students, teachers, parents, alumni, etc.
  • The project is creative, builds on-going relationships and builds leadership and social awareness.

Application and Recognition Details:

  • Student groups will be asked to fill out a Google form as a way to sign up and apply for this showcase. Each school will run an internal selection process to identify the top 1-3 groups to present during the Showcase event.
  • Selected student groups will be given 10 minutes to share their project during the Showcase; followed by 5-10 minutes of Q & A.
  • Selected Student groups can choose to use their 10 minutes to show a video, give a presentation, talk about their project or a combination of the above.
  • Selected Student groups will be asked to submit ahead of time a 1 minute reel outlining their project to be used by the Tri-Association for social media purposes.
  • The virtual Showcase event will be open for anybody from our region to attend. We envision students, staff, parents, alumni and community members attending.
  • Depending on the number of submissions, the Tri-Association reserves the right to limit the number of school presentations per school to allow for maximum exposure to multiple schools.
  • CS or SL projects or programs can be from all grade levels (Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle and/or High School.)
  • All school groups who present and share will be recognized. No single winner will be chosen. No monetary reward will be given.
  • All participating school groups will receive a certificate of appreciation and recognition.
  • All student leaders participating in the presentations will also receive a certificate of appreciation and recognition.
