City Information:
San José is the capital and largest city of Costa Rica, and the capital of San José Province. It is in the center of the country, in the mid-west of the Central Valley, within San José Canton. San José is Costa Rica's seat of national government, focal point of political and economic activity, and major transportation hub. San José is simultaneously one of Costa Rica's cantons, with its municipal land area covering 44.62 square kilometers (17.23 square miles) and having within it an estimated population of 352,381 people in 2022.

This year’s conference will be held in its entirety on the campus of the Lincoln School which is located about 45 minutes from the hotel by car. The address of the school is: Colegio Lincoln Barrio Socorro San Miguel de Santo Domingo de Heredia frente a la iglesia Católica del puente del estadio Ricardo Saprisa 800 mts al este, 50 mts al sur. It is not easy to get to and from the Lincoln School from the hotels we are recommending, so we recommend that you use the buses that will be provided from the Intercontinental hotel on the days of the conference.
Climate:
Despite the rain, the weather is still warm and sunny in September, with average temperatures in the mid-80s Fahrenheit. Daytime in Costa Rica during September feels warm and humid, with temperatures often reaching highs of around 22°C (71.6°F). The sun intermittently peeks through the clouds, offering a mix of sunshine and the promise of rain later in the day.
Altitude:
San Jose, Costa Rica is considered a high-altitude city. It is located in the Central Valley, which has an average elevation of 3,800 feet (1,160 meters) above sea level. We recommend drinking lots of water during your time in San Jose to help you manage the altitude.
Currency:
Many places in Costa Rica accept USD, but for small purchases, bus fares, beach vendors or coffee breaks - colones are your best bet.
Travel Information:
It is the responsibility of each school from the different countries to research their specific visa requirements for entry into Costa Rica and to check with your immigration office for any vaccination or extra details.
Policy changes: It is crucial to check the latest entry requirements and visa policies with the Costa Rican embassy or consulate before your travel date, as policies can change.

Cancellation Policy
- Cancelations received one month before the conference date will be refunded in full, minus a 25% administration fee.
- Cancelations received 15 days before the conference date will be refunded in full, minus a 50% administration fee.
- Cancelations during the conference dates will not be eligible for a refund.
- The registration fee owed/paid for a participant who must cancel can be transferred to a new unregistered person at no cost.
- A written request of refund should be submitted to the Executive Director of the TRI Association.
