Time: 5:30-6:30pm Colombian time (US Central time)
Facilitator: Dr. Matt Bergman

Dr. Matt Bergman is a self-described "UDL evangelist" committed to empowering educators in K-12 and higher education. His mission is to foster inclusive, accessible, and engaging learning environments where all students can thrive. Matt's expertise translates the UDL principles into practical strategies, particularly through lesson design, technology integration, artificial intelligence, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). In 2010, fueled by his passion, Matt launched an award-winning blog and YouTube channel called Learn Lead Grow, to disseminate practical strategies and tips for incorporating UDL and technology into teaching practices. Beyond his online outreach, Dr. Bergman's professional journey spans across K-12 and higher education. Matt has excelled in roles as a middle and high school teacher, K-12 digital learning coach, adjunct professor, instructional designer, consultant, and professional development leader. His expertise has earned him recognition, including the 2015 PAECT Teacher of the Year and serving as a faculty member at Harvard University's UDL Institute. In addition, Dr. Bergman was awarded a 2024 Elizabethtown College Design Studio Fellowship, where he is studying how to apply the concepts of UDL and artificial intelligence to enhance student learning. Dr. Bergman currently serves as the Assessment and Curriculum Coordinator for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Elizabethtown College and as Principal Education Consultant at Novak Education.

Description and Objectives:
Session 1: Building Your UDL + AI Mindset
Wednesday, September 10, 2025 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

Kick off the series by exploring how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and generative AI can work hand-in-hand to meet the needs of all learners. We’ll break down what both really mean, why they matter, and how this powerful combo can lead to more inclusive, efficient, and joyful teaching. This session will give you a strong foundation and clear purpose for moving forward.

Objectives:
● Define the three core principles of UDL.
● Describe what generative AI is and how it applies to education.
● Reflect on your comfort level with AI and UDL to set personal learning goals.

Session 2: Prompt Like a Pro – Unlocking AI’s Power for Inclusive Learning
Wednesday, October 8, 2025 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

Let’s be honest—AI is only as good as the prompts we give it. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to write clear, intentional prompts that produce high-quality, inclusive content aligned with your learning goals. We’ll explore examples, experiment live, and boost your confidence in using AI to create resources that truly reflect learner needs.

Objectives:
● Craft effective AI prompts aligned with UDL principles.
● Experiment with prompt structures that guide inclusive outputs.
● Troubleshoot common prompt mistakes and refine for better results.

Session 3: Plan with Purpose – Using AIto Design Standards-Aligned, Inclusive Lessons
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

Great lessons start with clear goals—and AI can help you get there faster and with more flexibility. In this session, you’ll explore how to use AI to unpack academic standards, co-create success criteria, and design assessments that are both inclusive and aligned. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining existing plans, you’ll learn how to make AI your partner in intentional, learner-centered design.

Objectives:
● Use AI to break down academic standards into clear, actionable learning goals.
● Co-develop success criteria that reflect high expectations and learner variability.
● Design inclusive assessments aligned with UDL and your intended outcomes.

Session 4: Personalize with Purpose – Co-Designing Inclusive Content with AI
Wednesday, January 14, 2026 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

What if you could create meaningful, engaging materials that reflect your learners’ interests and needs—without doubling your prep time? This session dives into using AI to co-design flexible resources like choice boards, texts at multiple levels, and student-driven tasks. Let AI do the heavy lifting while you stay focused on relationships and relevance.

Objectives:
● Use AI to generate differentiated materials that reflect learner variability.
● Design UDL-aligned content that supports engagement and representation.
● Apply flexible tools such as playlists or choice boards to personalize learning.

Session 5: AI as Your Feedback Partner – Supporting Every Learner’s Next Step
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

Feedback isn’t just about grades—it’s about growth. In this session, we’ll explore how AI can help you provide timely, personalized, and action-oriented feedback that builds student confidence and supports reflection. You’ll also learn how to use AI to support peer and self-assessment in a way that enhances agency.

Objectives:
● Use AI to craft meaningful, goal-aligned feedback for diverse learners.
● Explore how AI can support both formative and reflective feedback cycles.
● Promote agency through feedback that’s clear, personalized, and actionable.

Session 6: Language, Identity & Emotion – Using AIto Humanize Learning
Wednesday, March 11, 2026 (5:30 - 6:30 pm Colombia Time)

AI can do more than generate content—it can help create classrooms where every student feels seen, heard, and supported. This session focuses on using AI to foster social-emotional learning, support multilingual learners, and build inclusive environments that reflect your students’ cultures, voices, and identities. By tapping into the emotional and cultural dimensions of engagement, you’ll explore how AI can deepen connection, increase relevance, and spark meaningful participation for all learners.

Objectives:
● Leverage AI to support SEL skill-building through role play, reflection, and scenario-based learning that fosters engagement.
● Use AI to scaffold instruction for multilingual learners with language-accessible supports that promote inclusion.
● Apply AI tools to reflect students’ cultural and linguistic backgrounds in content creation and increase engagement.
