A Global Perspective on Population and Health: An Anthropological and Geographical Study.

A Global Perspective on Population and Health: An Anthropological and Geographical Study.

In this project, "A Global Perspective on Population and Health: An Anthropological and Geographical Study," two high school international students, one from Japan, and one from China, carried out a multiphase investigation designed to explore the intricate links between human populations, global health, and environmental factors. Students adopted the roles of both a geographer and an anthropologist to gain a holistic understanding.

They researched macro-level data on population distribution, growth drivers and the environmental impact of overpopulation, specifically focusing on the context of Mexico for environmental issues. They gathered qualitative, human-centered data to understand the real-life experience behind the statistics. The project for Global Politics subject, was structured into four sequential phases: collecting academic and statistical data, a fieldwork to conduct and record interviews with a diverse group of four individuals and collect personal narratives and insights related to the research topics, the analysis to merge their quantitative research findings with the qualitative human perspectives gathered during the interviews, looking for connections, challenges, and a compelling core narrative.

The final product was a "field report" presentation where students showcased their research summary, presented impactful clips from their interviews, and articulated the conclusions drawn from combining both data sets. The project was highly focused on developing critical skills, including high-quality research methods, effective teamwork, and strong speaking abilities for confident and clear professional communication.
