We are all unique!

We are all unique!

At Lincoln International Academy in Nicaragua, our Safe Environment Program recently brought to life a meaningful initiative: We Are All Unique Week. This experience was designed to help students understand that each person is uniquely created, with different ways of thinking, learning, and experiencing the world. In a special way, we emphasized that all our brains work differently—and that this is something beautiful. Within our identity as a Catholic institution, this week highlighted the dignity of every person and the importance of building a community where each student feels safe, respected, and valued.

Throughout the week, students engaged in age-appropriate activities that made these ideas tangible and meaningful. Through simple yet powerful experiences—such as observing that eggs may look different on the outside but are the same within, and creating a mural of uniquely painted flowers—students were able to reflect on how differences do not divide us, but rather enrich us. These activities opened the door to conversations about how each person’s mind works in its own way, and how these differences are a source of strength, creativity, and growth within the community.

We Are All Unique Week reflects our ongoing commitment to forming students not only academically, but also in their social and emotional development. By helping students understand that every brain works differently, and that this diversity is beautiful, we continue to nurture a culture rooted in respect, empathy, and care for one another. At Lincoln, we believe that when students feel safe to be themselves and are taught to honor the uniqueness of others, they are better prepared to grow, connect, and contribute positively to the world around them.
