The purpose of #MyFreedomDay is to mobilize educational communities worldwide to take up awareness-raising actions against modern-day slavery and human trafficking. The Atlanta International School was the initial creator of this great endeavor, and Colegio Decroly Americano of Guatemala has been a part of it since 2019. This year, Colegio Decroly Americano High School community as a whole chose to once more support this vital cause. We firmly believe that it is critical for our learners to understand these worldwide concerns, which astonishingly persist to this day. Additionally, one of our goals as educators is to help our kids realize that in order to affect change and make a difference, we must raise our voices and take action. Our student Derick Ortiz led the effort to fly the drown, which captured our community coming together to speak out against human trafficking, as we wrote a massive #MyFreedomDay banner on our soccer field. He added the public domain soundtrack and edited the video. In addition, Leah Lavarreda, another student and voice in the video, shares our beliefs regarding human trafficking.
